Meet AshLeigh.
A Huntsville native, AshLeigh earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Alabama and her law degree from Cumberland School of Law at Samford University.
Dunham is a distinguished legal professional with a career rooted in service to Alabama families. She serves as a Referee in Jefferson County’s Juvenile Court, where she adjudicates sensitive family and juvenile matters with fairness, clarity, and compassion. Her work creates stability for children and families facing crisis, drawing on years of experience handling complex legal issues with a steady, principled approach.
AshLeigh is also a practicing Fertility Attorney at Magic City Fertility Law. Her expertise in this area is deeply personal: AshLeigh and her husband welcomed their daughter through IVF, but had to leave Alabama to access the care they needed to start their family. As an attorney, AshLeigh helps individuals and couples navigate the legal complexities of assisted reproduction so they can start and grow their families, too. That experience fuels her public advocacy for legal protections for families seeking fertility treatment. She believes no Alabamian should have to leave home to start a family.
AshLeigh and her family are members of Trinity United Methodist Church, also in Homewood. She lives in the Birmingham area with her husband, Jonathan, and their daughter Aria.
Why This Work Matters to Her
For AshLeigh, this work is personal.
As a mother, she thinks about the kind of Alabama her daughter will grow up in—the rights she’ll have, the opportunities she’ll be given, and whether the system will treat her fairly.
Her family’s IVF journey deepened that perspective. Court decisions are not theoretical—they shape whether families can grow and whether deeply personal choices are respected.
That’s what drives her: building a justice system that remembers the people behind every case.
How AshLeigh Approaches the Law
AshLeigh believes the role of a justice is not to impose personal views, but to faithfully interpret the law and apply it to the facts.
She brings:
A litigator’s understanding of how cases are built and decided
A deep respect for the Alabama and United States Constitutions
A commitment to considering the real-world impact of every ruling
Because behind every case is a person, a family, or a future being shaped.
